Newport Rotary Recognized for Foundation Support

Newport Rotary was recognized as the No. 2 Per Capita Giving Club in District 7730 to our Rotary Foundation for 2013-14 Rotary Year. The recognition was made at the District 7730 "Celebrate the Stars" Foundation Banquet held in Wallace, NC on November 2, 2014 by District Governor Vanessa Ervin and Rotary Foundation Annual Fund Chair John Mohr. Foundation Peace Scholar Luiz Pinto from Brazil, studying at the UNC-CH/Duke Peace Center, was the keynote speaker on the Amazon Peace Center.

Newport Rotary is traditionally upon the most significant supporters, per person, of The Rotary Foundation in the District. The 2013-14 Per Capita Giving of the club was $374.46 per person average.

The Rotary Foundation transforms a Rotarians gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, it taps into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact, at home and abroad.

Also recognized at the event were Rotarians Bevin & Pam Wall, who were in attendance, and Larry Howard as Foundation Major Donors and Paul Harris Society Members. The Walls are also members of the Bequest Society.
