Serious as a Heart Attack: Lookout for these Symptoms!

Dr. Bill Walker
Dr. William T. "Bill" Walker, Jr. of Down East Medical Associates, Morehead City, also a Past District Governor of Rotary, will address Newport Rotary during the October 6 regular meeting. His program will be on spotting Heart Attack symptoms and what to do in case of such an emergency.

Dr. Walker graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1979. Specializing in the field of Internal Medicine, he is prepared to provide care to adult patients suffering from a wide range of illnesses and diseases, ranging from the very common to the very rare. Dr. Walker is also trained in general medicine, and is capable of treating patients for diseases that may have overlapping symptoms or complications.

Update from Program: Heart Attack RISKS are: family history, being male, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure 150/90 or greater for 10 years, high cholesterol greater than 200. SYMPTOMS are: pressure – like an elephant sitting on your chest after exertion, shortness of breath, don’t feel well, sweating profusely, nauseous. BEST PREVENTION is exercise. Walking is as effective as running or jogging and you need to do it for at least 20 min straight, every other day. Riding a bicycle is not very effective.
