Literacy President Addresses Club

Kim Corbin, the President of the Carteret Literacy Council, was the guest speaker at the Newport Rotary Club during their Monday, March 11, 2013 Community Focused Meeting. Mr. Corbin, a Rotarian in the Swansboro Rotary Club, was invited to speak to the club by the week's Program Chair, Larry Howard, who also arranged for the meal. March is Literacy Month on the Rotary calendar.

Mr. Corbin related some of the history of the Literacy Council, as well as highlighting several anecdotes regarding the need for literacy training and the literacy training process. He also highlighted the fundraising and financial support required to keep the Literacy Council going.  The club members asked several questions following the program.

Next weeks program will be by Bevin Wall on the England/ Wales Group Study Exchange Team, which just returned from a four week exchange.
